About California Women for Agriculture Central Valley Chapter
California Women for Agriculture (CWA) was formed in 1975, in the Coachella Valley. The name was chosen to develop a cross section of members. In fact, the nucleus of the first chapter was made up of consumers, as well as farmers.
Today our membership is as diverse as the industry we represent; bankers, lawyers, accountants, marketing professionals, consumers and farmers. With 21 chapters and approximately 1000 plus members across the state, CWA is the most active, all volunteer agricultural organization in the state and members are actively engaged in public relations, education, and legislative advocacy on behalf of agriculture.
Our MissionPromoting and Developing the Interest of California Women Involved or Interested in Agriculture
Our mission is to promote and develop the interest of California women involved or interested in agriculture and to promote a strong agriculture industry in California. CWA’s efforts are guided by 5 principle objectives: to speak on behalf of agriculture in an intelligent, informative, direct and truthful manner; to keep CWA members informed on legislative activities pertaining to agriculture; to join forces when the need arises to deal with agricultural issues and challenges; to improve the public image of farmers and; to develop a rapport with consumers, educators, and governmental and business leaders in communities throughout the State.

Notable CWA Projects & ActivitiesCentral Valley
As a member, these are some of the projects and activities you can be involved in at the State and local level:

Adopt-a-Legislator program – CWA recognizes and supports the members of our California legislature.

Support of the “Ag-in-the-Classroom” program through involvement in various activities and programs.

Capitol Ag Day – an event which provides the legislature and their staff with an opportunity to experience the diversity of California’s many agricultural products and meet with agriculture organizations and commodity representatives.

Scholarships – provided to college bound students majoring in agriculture in their local communities.

Affiliation with American Agri-Women (AAW).

Statewide membership meetings.

Community outreach events, i.e. United Cerebral Palsy (UCP), Ag Boosters’ BBQ, and Ag Day at the Chaffee Zoo
Received Proclamation for National Ag Week from Fresno City Council. Central Valley Chapter representatives visited with legislators in Sacramento and assisted with Ag Booster BBQ fundraiser at Borba Ranch.
