CWA Community Service

Several members assisted with the Citrus Harvest at Fresno State President Castro’s University House on January 16.  The oranges, lemons and grapefruits were donated to the Student Cupboard on campus and the Bulldog Food Pantry.

Mala To and Pahoua Yang assisted Jessica Sweet with a presentation on how to grow pumpkins for Irene Phelan’s transitional-kindergarten class at Winchell Elementary.

CWA Community Service

United Cerebral Palsy – CWA, Plant Science Club and Fowler/Lone Star 4-H helped transplant vegetables in planters and seeded radish which will be harvested for students’ cooking class.  They also added logo stickers to medallions for the Brian Sturgeon Run which will be held at Woodward Park on Saturday, February 28.

Citrus Harvest at President Castro’s House -Jan. 25 , harvested lemons, grapefruits and oranges at the University House and donated them to Student Cupboard on Fresno State campus and Bulldog Food Pantry.  President Castro greeted us in the morning and thanked us for our efforts.

World Ag Expo – Feb. 11, several members helped man the booth in the pavilion.  Met many new people and possible recruits for our chapter.  Pray for Rain Shirts sold well!

Katie Asai helped Dr. Bruce Roberts prepare judging classes for the State FFA Cotton Contest at Fresno State as well as participated as a runner and tabulation checker the day of the contest.

Couple members volunteered with the Toys for Tots drive at Riverpark Shopping Center with the Marines.  It was amazing to see how generous the community was in donating toys, bikes and/or monetary gifts to purchase toys which will help fulfill a child’swish for Christmas.  12/7/14.

CVCWA, Reedley/Fowler/Lone-Star 4-H, Bullard and Fowler High School worked on props for the Haunted House and cut Christmas ornaments at United Cerebral Palsy.  10/19/14

Katie Asai participated in the Sanger Christmas Parade with the Lone Star/Fowler 4-H Group.  Marlene Miyasaki and Lucile King help co-lead the Fowler 4H and also donated toys.

Plant Science Club, CVCWA, and Lone Star 4-H helped with finishing touches on tiles at United Cerebral Palsy for the Central Valley Women’s Conference.  8/14

CWA Community Service

Plant Science Club, California Women for Agriculture (CWA), Fowler/Lone Star 4-H, and Sanger High School Interact Club members helped the Ani Guild decorate various Christmas trees at the California Armenian Home to create a festive atmosphere for the residents. Each tree was unique with its different ornaments, bows, lights and ribbons. They provided pizza and cookies to thank everyone for their service. 11/29/14

Some members helped remove and plant new vegetables and crops for the Valley Farm Project at the Fresno Chaffee Zoo.
